Stop Getting In Your Own Way
By: Robert Notter
People often ask me what they can get out of their own way and grow their business. Honestly, if you want to know why your business is as it is, good and bad, you need to accept responsibility for the role you played in creating it. Perhaps the reason you don’t have as successful of a business as you’d like, is because deep down you don’t think it’s possible, or you don’t value your work as much as you should.
I know that we all have less than ideal days, from time to time. Often times people say “your challenges make you stronger.” And yes, I guess they ultimately do. That doesn’t make it any easier though, especially when you are in a financial crisis or struggling to find clients. What I do know, though, is that only you can decide what you do with your life and your business. I’d like to share some tips that can help. I suggest you try this out, see what works for you, and at least take a first step. Your life is waiting.
Figure out how you keep yourself stuck - do you take action towards your goals, or do you sit around doing nothing? Do you call a friend for support, or just procrastinate? If the things you do are not bringing results, then do something different.
Be clear on your goals – what makes you happy; identify your goals and dreams. Spend some time and reflect on what will fulfill you, not just temporarily make you feel better. There is no glass ceiling, except the one you’ve imposed on yourself.
Focus on the positives - you get what you believe you deserve, and what you focus on is what you’ll experience. If you are focusing on problems you tend to get more problems. Why not think about the solutions. If you focus on expanding your business, seeing yourself and others with more kindness and possibility, having gratitude, and changing your negative thinking, things will turn out much differently.
Accept where you are - you are where you are, and the only way to go is forward. If you don’t have enough clients, accept the fact that you’d like to find more business and then do something about it. Be real, don’t judge yourself, and make a plan for change.
Take action - work towards your goals every day. If you really feel stuck, think about one thing you could do that may start the energy flowing again. Sometimes building a business may seem daunting, especially if you are only looking at the end result. So, take things one day at a time, and see each step forward as a move in the right direction.
Get support - having other people in your life with whom you share your concerns, whether friend, family, or business coach, will help you reach your goals more quickly. A listening ear and an objective outlook can be priceless. You don’t have to do this alone.
Make Money in Any Economy
By: Robert Notter
People often tell me they are worried about the economy, and wonder if they can make it in "difficult" times. I tell them, OF COURSE you can, and let's figure out how. The news and media may try to keep us living in fear, but you can choose how you let it affect you. If you focus your energy and efforts on what you CAN do, regardless of what's going on around you, you WILL be successful.
My business has never been stronger. I have many clients and much demand for my work, which I greatly appreciate. People need help now more than ever - they are worrying too much, are not sure what to do to grow their business or life, and often procrastinate. I am happy to be a consistent source of support to teach clients what they can to do turn lemons into lemonade, so to speak. And you can do the same with your clients!
As a health practitioner, people STILL need your help. Though they may just be choosier about who they select to spend their money with. SO, it's important for you to be unique, find ways to reach out and let people know why YOU are the best at what you do, and all of the ways you can support them. Don't let other negative people distract you, TRUST in your work and take consistent action to grow your business. The tips below should have you well on your way to finding more clients, even during a less ideal economic climate.
Stop focusing on fear and worry:
What you focus on is what you create - it's a universal law. When you wake up each morning, be grateful for what you do have. And when any fear or worry thoughts come up, simply recognize them as thoughts, and stop them in their tracks. Tell yourself why you CAN do this, and why you deserve to be successful. Shift your focus.
Focus on benefits:
Your potential client needs to know what you can offer them, and why your work is worth the investment. It's important to keep a benefits oriented focus in your marketing efforts. Present people with the idea that YOU can help them feel better every day, and how much value this adds to their life.
Offer group programs:
Group work is a great way for you to offer a lower price point, yet make more money per hour. Forming group programs, online classes and teleseminar series are effective tools to add to your service offering. This will attract more clients, as you are able to offer other ways to work with you, especially if people are not yet ready to invest in one-on-one programs.
Provide special bonuses:
When you offer a program to a potential client, you may want to consider providing bonuses. Perhaps adding on a free service, some type of advanced level of support, something the client will perceive as a high dollar value, yet it is included for no extra charge. One very simple way is to offer free email support, for client questions between sessions or appointments. I, for example, offer free classes and other special bonuses to my clients.
Invest in yourself:
If you see the world around you as "not enough", then you are only affirming more of what you don't want. Take some time to challenge your old money beliefs. And think about how you can grow yourself and your business. Spending money on your own personal and professional growth is a true investment. Money is an energetic flow.
Stop Procrastinating
By: Robert Notter
When I ask business owners why they are not as successful as they’d like, they often tell me, “I plan on doing more when I find the time.” Let me be the first to tell you, they don’t find the time because some part of them wants to procrastinate. When you procrastinate you’re putting off things that you should be focusing on right now, by doing nothing or finding something that you’re more comfortable with. For some, they may not know where to begin. Others may doubt that they have the right skills to be successful. Regardless of the reason (or excuse) the result is less business growth and not enough clients. If you are consistently waiting for the “right time” you may wake up one day to see that six months have passed and you’ve accomplished little.
Of course, it’s important to learn how to market yourself and have the support to take the actions to work smarter not harder (and this is exactly what I’ll be teaching you in my Marketing Radiance Coaching club!) At the end of the day though, it’s up to you to put a plan together, schedule steps, and take action. The following tips will help you beat your own version of procrastination, and re-motivate yourself to get out there and make it happen. Your potential clients and the unlimited success of your business await.
Recognize where you procrastinate – take an honest look at your business and the areas that seem to hold you back. If you reflect on it, you are most often keeping yourself stuck. Don’t judge yourself, just become aware where you don’t take consistent action and the opportunities you’ve not yet followed up on.
Think about what it’s costing you - when you consider what procrastination is costing you, you may realize what you’re missing out on. Ultimately, if you put off marketing for tomorrow, you miss the opportunity to build your business both short and long term. This means you have less money, less chances to share your skills, and ultimately way less freedom to live a life of passion and purpose. Aren’t you worth it?
Understand the reasons why - journal a bit about why you procrastinate. There is always something below the surface fueling your lack of activity or motivation. Perhaps you have fears that it may not work out, or you wonder if you will know enough to be successful. Or, it may be that the task is not something you enjoy doing. Whatever the case, if you can figure out why, you can then determine a reasonable solution and/or get support to work through whatever may be holding you back.
Create an action plan with steps - often times when we look at the end road, the steps along the way can seem daunting. So, it’s important to create a manageable action plan. First, write down every step you’ll need to take to accomplish the particular goal. Next, organize the tasks in the order you’ll need to take them. Finally, schedule the steps in your planner and do ONE thing at a time. If you can view each step as a singular accomplishment, you’ll feel a greater reward, and getting to the finish line will not be nearly as overwhelming.
Get support - you don’t have to do it alone. If there is something you don’t know how to do, and that’s what keeps you stuck, ask a knowledgeable person for support. Perhaps you need to implement new technology to automate tasks you do (newsletter etc.). Recognize that there is support out there, and all you have to do is ask.
